FAQs. Your need-to-knows
This isn't your average job application process as quite frankly, this isn't your average job. If you're interested in applying for the Nicest Job in Britain but are unsure of a few things, check through these FAQs to see if they can help.
If there's anything we've missed then you can get in touch below.
How do I apply?
We're asking you to apply via video entry here. A short 30-45 second clip telling us or showing us why you want the Nicest job in Britain. You can even film your entry on your smartphone and upload it straight from there.
If you're stuck for ideas, see our hints and tips.
When is the deadline?
The deadline for video entries is the 7th November 2014.
Entry submission will be closed after this date and our judging panel will select a shortlist of 8 applicants to attend an interview round in late November 2014 (date yet to be confirmed.)
Where will I be based?
The Nicest Job in Britain involves travelling all across the country over the course of the year.
Accommodation will be provided for 4 nights each week, for the duration of your stay with each charity. For the other three days you will need to provide your own accommodation which can be anywhere within the UK.
When does the job start?
The Nicest Job in Britain will be carried out between January 2015 and December 2015.
Throughout that time, our winning candidate will help 45 charities. They will also receive sufficient training and be entitled to 20 days of holiday (including free return flights to use.) Our winning candidate may be asked to commence training before January 2015, if their current situation allows.
What about travel?
If our winning applicant holds a full UK driving license, they will be provided with a car for the duration of the role. Otherwise, alternative travel will be arranged.
What is required?
We're not looking for anything too specific.
If you have a passion for helping others, an active interest and understanding of the third sector, and a 'can do' attitude, then you’re the kind of person we’re looking for. All we ask is that you are:
- Over 18
- Eligible to work in the UK
- Can pass a CRB check
- Available between January and December 2015
Who is making the decisions and how does the process work?
Our panel of industry experts and leading business professionals will review the entries and draw up a shortlist of 8 candidates. You can see the panel here. These will then be invited to a dedicated shortlist day in late November, where each will be interviewed and a winning candidate will be announced.
